What is Fraud Search Detection?

CrowdFiber takes numerous steps to block address searches from known lists of bad actors. Below are some of CrowdFiber features that will help prevent fraudulent activity on your CrowdFiber site.

The following detections and safeguards do not apply to users signed in with Admin access.

All International Traffic is Blocked

  • Visitors with IP addresses outside the United States will not be able to access your CrowdFiber Site.
  • Visitors with IP addresses outside the United States will not see your CrowdFiber Search Widget on your proprietary site.

First Fraud Detection

  • Address searches for a given IP cannot exceed three searches every 5 minutes.
    • Since it is possible for there to be multiple clients behind a given IP, we do special detection to try to distinguish multiple clients connecting to the site.

Second Fraud Detection

  • Blocks the given IP from searching addresses for one hour if a client continues to visit five more times after the first limitation(with searches a minute or less apart).

Record Keeping

  • Records if an IP address has been previously throttled or blocked.
  • History of the max score for an IP and all fraud reasons.

Measures for detecting fraudulent searches

  • Bad email addresses.
  • Bad phone numbers.
  • IP address checks (scanning for IPs where attacks are known to have originated).
  • An identical user has been created more than five times in 24 hours, which triggers an instant 24-hour ban.
