Zone Groups: Feature Overview

Zone Groups are a feature that can be used to group up related zones.

In this article, we'll go through how to create, edit, and delete a Zone Group along with how to configure your BDC/477 Reporting Criteria.

Creating a Zone Group

1. Navigate to your Zone Groups index

2. Click the New Zone Group that can be found at the top right of your Zone Group index

3. Name your zone group, assign a color to that zone group, and select the zones you'd like to be part of that zone group

4. Save the record

Editing a Zone Group

  1. Click the Edit button on the left side of the Zone Group you'd like to edit Screen_Shot_2022-12-12_at_9.49.15_AM.png
  2. Save the Zone Group once you've made your changes

Deleting a Zone Group

  • To delete a Zone Group, click the delete button on the right side of the Zone Group you'd like to delete Screen_Shot_2022-12-12_at_9.49.15_AM.png

Configuring your BDC and 477 Reporting Information

1. Open the Zone Group record of the Zone Group you'd like to create the BDC/477 Criteria for.

2. Click the Add New Reporting Criteria button that can be found at the bottom of the Zone Group

3. Fill in the appropriate information

4. Save the Zone Group record

Important Notes

  • Zone Group color will take precedence over individual Zone Color, so if you attempt to change a single zones color to red, while the group it belongs to is set to blue, that individual zone will remain blue
  • Zone Groups will still be able to behave independently and can have their own zone typing, overrides, etc
  • If you have BDC/477 criteria declared in a zone record and in the zone group that the zone belongs to, the export will take the criteria found in the zone group over the criteria found in the zone record.
