How Can I Reduce Duplicate Orders?

Your customers want your service so badly, they are registering two and three times. Great news, right?! (Did you detect the sarcasm?)

While it is possible for you to manually delete duplicate orders, we have found that clear communication with users can drastically reduce the rate of duplicates for your site. In cases where you find it necessary to deduplicate orders, it's also important to proactively notify members since this may impact zone goals and progress.

Here are some tips for how to use clear language to prevent duplicate orders:

  • Address the issue on your Home Page: advise users that only one registration (or pre-registration) is permitted per household, and that duplicate registrations will be deleted/will not count toward a zone's goal.
  • Confirm successful registrants upon completion of order: include content in your automated post-order Welcome Email let your customers know their registration was successful, and remind them there's no need to register again.

Example : You've successfully completed your registration.

Please only submit one registration. Submitting multiple registrations donly slows down the process of planning required before we can bring service to you.

  • Provide updates: use CrowdFiber's Updates tool to let your customers know how much progress has been made and how much more is needed.
  • Show zone progress on your Home Page: enable the Zones link on your Home Page so customers can return to your site to monitor the progress of their zone.

If you notice an accumulation of duplicate orders and intend to remove them, strongly consider notifying your customers in advance. In some cases deduplication can have a significant effect on goal progress, and you can avoid confusion or anger by relaying this information beforehand.

You can contact your customers by creating a Contact List and emailing them directly from your Admin Dashboard. For detailed instructions on how to do this, click here .

Here are some tips for what to say in your email:

  • Communicate why duplicate registration slows the process:
    • Let your users know that you need accurate numbers to evaluate, plan, or schedule build.
    • Duplicate orders can affect the goal rate.
  • Encourage them to become Champions.
    • People who are submitting multiple forms are great candidates for advocates or champions in your community. It's clear that getting service is of high priority for them. Consider contacting these users individually and engaging their help and commitment.
  • Promote sharing on social media, email, text, or in-person about the campaign to help their area reach their goal faster.

You can also provide additional resources for customers who want to promote your campaign:

  • Provide print materials on your customers' user dashboard that they can print and distribute (flyers, door hangers, postcards, etc).
  • Consider hosting a training session for volunteers willing to go door to door or more actively campaign.
  • Create a Champion pack that gives these highly vocal customers more influence. T-shirts, bags, water bottles, etc. will get more exposure from those that have demonstrated that this is a high priority to them.
